Grandma June's Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 10 oz. Dark Chocolate Buttons
  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 cups uncooked oatmeal (not instant)


Heat oven to 325° F.  Cream together margarine, brown sugar and white sugar. Add & mix well egg, vanilla, flour, salt and baking soda.  Stir into batter uncooked oatmeal.

If dough seems a bit stiff, add 1 tbsp of water. Add dark chocolate buttons. Bake on a greased cookie pan for 13 minutes (no longer if you want them chewy). Let them set up a couple minutes before removing from pan to put on cooling racks.

Yields approx. 2 dozen (3 inch) cookies; depending on how much your helper samples the dough.
