FAQs:
- Are caramel squares chocolate truffles? No, our caramel squares are not truffles, although they are enrobed the same way our traditional-style assortment box truffles are!
- What is enrobing? Enrobing is a process for coating an item with chocolate. During enrobing, items on a conveyer belt are drawn under a "waterfall" of tempered chocolate that evenly coats the item.
- What is tempered chocolate? Tempered chocolate has been carefully heated and cooled to remove impurities and ensure that the crystal structure of the chocolate will set correctly when hardened.
- Are all chocolate-coated items enrobed? No, items can be coated in chocolate by hand-dipping, enrobing, panning, or molding.
- How are these different than the Milk Caramel or Dark Caramel boxes? Our Milk and Dark Caramel boxes only have one variety of chocolate caramel in them. This 15-pack has both milk and dark chocolate caramels in it--the best of both worlds!
- Are these caramel squares hard? No, our caramels are soft.
- Are these caramel squares chewy? No, our caramels are very soft and easy to eat.
- How long do they last? Caramels store best in air-tight containers to avoid moisture and preserve freshness. Always check the best-by date. Storage conditions--such as sunlight, atmospheric humidity, and overall temperature levels--can directly affect the quality of caramels.
- How can I store caramels for future use? Airtight containers are a caramel's best friend in this situation. Place them in an airtight container and store in the freezer; when you're ready for them, remove from the freezer and store in refrigerator to thaw. Generally, caramels shouldn't be frozen for longer than around 90 days/3 months.
- Can caramel squares be shipped? Yes! They will be shipped with ice and insulated packaging during the warmer months as they can be a temperature-sensitive item.
